hey internet, i’m back 👋

*and this time I’m gonna stick around*

Yes, I’ve been down this road before. Wanting to start a blog to create some really cool content about things I love rambling about. Cut to a few days later, choosing to back out because of frivolous reasons stemmed in self-judgement and fear.

Fair warning, this blog will not only be casual af, (I am no professional writer, but I sure am a talkative) but I will happily call myself out on any of my failures, because that’s how you learn. And there are quite a few lessons I had to understand to get to where I am today.

Here’s a short timeline of the many instances I “tried” to start a blog:

  • Circa 2011, I loved shopping, and apparently loved sweater shorts a lot. Reason I didn’t continue? I had a terrible phone camera, I thought, “no one would like to see pictures like this???”
  • In 2013, I started taking my fitness seriously, so I started recording my workouts on Instagram – when I didn’t see visible progress, I stopped posting.
  • 2014, Made a diary style blog, didn’t even get past the first post. I’m also 90% sure I wrote it slightly intoxicated.
  • Jump to 2017, I launched a sadly short-lived lifestyle brand with my friend. Content was way better than what I’ve ever made in the past, but it just didn’t fit our work styles/schedules.

SO HERE WE ARE. 2020. Is this me repeating my past self? Guess we’ll find out.

Reflecting back at these blimps in time, there is some recollection of my self consciousness, and also, what some may call a “Virgo’s search for perfection”. Stopping projects when things don’t go the way it’s “supposed to be”, or caring too much about how many people see it, or worrying about what people will think.

What I’ve learned over these past 9 years is that the only person you need to impress is yourself. Nothing will ever be 100% perfect – if anything I’d rather have it 90% done than never completed at all. I spent years chasing the perfect answer to everything, only realizing that it’s just not feasible. Quite frankly, the world moves on without you whether or not you decide to do something about it.

For the odd chance you’re reading this – hi – I hope you start whatever thing you’ve been wanting to do and kept pushing off for years. Flip that mindset and don’t question if you can do it, ask yourself “how” you can make it happen.

I’m going to make mine happen. And that start’s now.
